Feel Good Friday Pineapple Slushy Recipe

What is it about these funny looking bumpy fruits that has everyone so in love? I mean seriously…have you noticed that pineapples are everywhere? It’s like obsession!

From emojis to Instagram memes, they are on clothing. Heck you can even buy silver pineapples for your home décor. So what gives? Why do pineapples make us feel so darned good?

Well for starters, pineapples are associated with summer and leisure. Synonymous with Hawaii, pineapples conjure up images of the beach and fun cocktails - so straight up they got a reputation boost being known as one of the most fun fruits around.

These little darlings of the fruit world are also very community oriented….say what? Yup you heard me right. A pineapple is actually the result of many flowers whose fruitlets have joined around the core. Which means it’s a tiny fruit community.

Getting into the nutrition of this sassy but sweet exotic fruit, pineapples are loaded with vitamins, enzymes and antioxidants. They may help boost your immune system because of their high levels of vitamin C - which is also a powerful antioxidant - so pineapples help you fight cellular damage. (Read this as “anti-aging”). They also boost your energy and mood due to their high levels of the B vitamin, Thiamine.

Pineapples also help you build strong bones and prevent osteoporosis due to their calcium and manganese content. The enzyme Bromelain found in pineapples aids in digestion, so bye bye grumpy puffy tummy. And, despite their sweetness, pineapples are low in calories and high in fiber (and we always could use more fiber).

So try this Feel Good Friday pineapple slushy recipe and bring more happiness into your life:

1/4 cup any non dairy milk (cashew or almond)
